Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, has announced the appointment of Hon. Gani Audu as his Chief of Staff, effective immediately.
The announcement was conveyed through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Umar Ikhilor. According to the statement, the appointment is part of Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to implementing impactful reforms across the state.
“The general public, particularly the good people of Edo State, are hereby informed that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Hon. Gani Audu as Chief of Staff. This appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement read.
Hon. Gani Audu, a seasoned politician and administrator, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Born on August 18, 1969, Audu holds an HND from Auchi Polytechnic (1994), a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Benson Idahosa University (2011), and an M.Sc in Intelligence and Global Security from Baze University, Abuja (2024).
Audu’s political career includes serving as Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council (2004–2010) and as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly representing Etsako West Constituency 1 (2015–2023). He also served as the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2020 Edo State Governorship elections.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, endorsed the appointment as a step towards enhancing governance in the state.
