Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Abuja on Saturday for a landmark state visit, marking the first by an Indian leader in nearly two decades. President Bola Tinubu will host Modi on Sunday at the Presidential Villa for high-level bilateral talks aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations.
According to a statement from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, both leaders will exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding to boost collaboration in critical sectors.
This visit follows the last state trip by an Indian prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in 2007, during which India and Nigeria established a strategic partnership. Modi’s presence underscores the growing significance of bilateral relations between the two nations as they explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The agenda for the discussions is expected to include economic collaboration, trade partnerships, and shared strategies for addressing global challenges. The visit is anticipated to further solidify the historical bond between Nigeria and India while opening avenues for enhanced mutual growth.
