ABUJA: In celebration of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26, 2024; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Monday in Abuja.
Call for Unity and Reflection
Dr. Tunji-Ojo used the occasion to extend warm festive greetings to all Nigerians. He urged citizens to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity that the holiday season symbolizes.
“The Christmas season is a special time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and goodwill toward one another, irrespective of our differences,” he said.
He called on Nigerians to utilize the holidays to strengthen bonds within families and communities while fostering harmony across the nation.
Commitment to National Development
Highlighting the Federal Government’s dedication to national progress, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to remain steadfast in their commitment to peace, unity, and the development of Nigeria.
“The Federal Government remains resolute in its efforts to ensure peace, security, and prosperity for all Nigerians,” he added.
The minister also expressed confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that 2025 would usher in a more robust economy and national growth.
