In a significant political shake-up aimed at improving governance, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has dismissed five commissioners in a cabinet reshuffle. The move, announced on Tuesday through a statement by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, is intended to enhance service delivery and inject fresh ideas into the administration.
The affected commissioners include Dr. Jamila Dahiru, Commissioner for Education; Abubakar Bununu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs; Usman Danturaki, Commissioner for Information and Communication; Prof. Simon Yalams, Commissioner for Agriculture; and Yakubu Hamza, Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation.
According to Gidado, the reshuffle reflects the governor’s commitment to strengthening the government’s machinery to address emerging challenges in the state. “In a strategic effort to reinvigorate governance and ensure optimal service delivery to the people of Bauchi State, the governor has approved the reconstitution of his cabinet,” the statement read.
Gidado emphasized that the reconstitution is a routine measure to improve the administration’s effectiveness. “His Excellency extends his profound gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, service, and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Bauchi State. Their efforts have been instrumental in advancing key initiatives and policies of this administration,” he added.
The governor has also forwarded a list of eight new commissionership nominees to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for approval. The nominees are Isa Tilde, Abdullahi Mohammed, Dr. Bala Lukshi, Usman Shehu, Iliyasu Gital, Prof. Titus Ketkukah, Adamu Gabarin, and Dr. Mohammed Lawal.
The reshuffle is seen as part of a broader strategy by the governor to maintain momentum in delivering on his administration’s mandate. The government reiterated its commitment to impactful development and improving the welfare of Bauchi State residents.
Political analysts believe the reshuffle is a calculated move by Governor Mohammed to tackle pressing governance issues and ensure his administration remains on track to fulfill its development goals. The newly nominated commissioners are expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to key sectors of the state’s economy.
The Bauchi State government remains optimistic that the new cabinet lineup will bolster its efforts to achieve better governance outcomes. The incoming commissioners, if confirmed, will be tasked with driving the administration’s agenda in areas such as education, security, agriculture, and societal reorientation.
Observers will be watching closely to see how the changes impact the state’s governance and whether the new appointees can deliver on the administration’s promises to improve the lives of Bauchi residents.
