Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan displayed an awe-inspiring performance at the Eugene Diamond League, clinching her third consecutive Diamond League title in the women’s 100m hurdles. The 26-year-old, who recently faced disappointment with a loss in her world title bid in Budapest, Hungary, made an astonishing comeback by outpacing a field of formidable competitors, including Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Keni Harrison, and Danielle Williams.
Amusan’s remarkable victory was marked by a season’s best time of 12.33 seconds, firmly solidifying her status as a dominant force in the women’s hurdles event on the international stage.
Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn secured a commendable second place with a time of 12.38 seconds, closely followed by the United States’ Keni Harrison, who claimed the third position with a time of 12.44 seconds.
Tobi Amusan now joins an elite league of athletes by becoming the second woman ever to conquer the 100m hurdles event at the Diamond League for three consecutive years, matching the impressive feat of Dawn Harper-Nelson, who previously accomplished this remarkable feat in 2012, 2023, and 2014.
In addition to Amusan’s triumph, another Nigerian athlete, Ese Brume, showcased her talent by clinching the second spot in the Long Jump event. Brume’s outstanding performance saw her finish as the runner-up, with Serbia’s Ivana Vuleta emerging as the victor in the competition.
Tobi Amusan’s victory in Eugene not only signifies her resilience and determination but also cements her legacy as a dominant force in women’s hurdling, setting her sights on further achievements in the world of athletics.
