Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has relocated his £150 million business empire from the United Kingdom to Dubai, confirming his residency in the United Arab Emirates through recent corporate filings.
The British-Nigerian boxing star disclosed in official documents that he is now resident in the UAE, marking a notable shift from the UK, where he built his boxing career and expanded multiple business ventures.
Reports indicate that filings submitted for two of Joshua’s companies — Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited — now list the UAE as his country of residence. The disclosures form part of standard regulatory requirements mandating company directors to declare their place of residence.
Dubai has increasingly attracted wealthy athletes, celebrities and entrepreneurs due to its favourable tax structure, including the absence of personal income tax.
Financial records show that Joshua declared dividend payments of £10.1 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023, earnings that would ordinarily be subject to taxation in the UK.
His promotional company, Sparta Promotions, also reported profits of £20.396 million in 2024 and paid £6.65 million in UK corporate tax during the same period.
Joshua has long maintained close ties with Dubai, frequently travelling to the city for training camps, holidays and brand promotional activities. The emirate has become a major hub for international sports due to its modern facilities and growing investment in sporting infrastructure.
The move places him among a number of wealthy British figures who have relocated abroad, including Jim Ratcliffe, owner of Manchester United, and Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of easyJet, both of whom reside in Monaco.
Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, confirmed that the relocation occurred several months ago.
“He has already moved to Dubai. He doesn’t need to inform us before making such a move, but I know he moved a while ago, talking of months back now,” he said.
Born in Watford to Nigerian parents, Joshua rose to global prominence after winning gold for Great Britain Olympic Boxing Team at the 2012 London Olympics. He later went on to become a two-time heavyweight world champion.
His decision to relocate signals a major shift in both his personal and business base as the boxing star increasingly aligns his commercial interests with the Middle East.
