Reports from Sky Germany reveal that German football giants Bayern Munich will bid farewell to their current manager, Thomas Tuchel, at the conclusion of the ongoing season. According to Sky’s sources, the decision follows amicable discussions between Tuchel and the club, culminating in a mutual agreement to part ways.
The club has officially confirmed this development via a statement released on their website on Wednesday. The statement outlines that the originally planned tenure, scheduled to extend until June 30, 2025, will now conclude on June 30, 2024, following constructive talks between CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Thomas Tuchel.
CEO Dreesen elaborated on the decision, stating, “In an open, positive conversation, we reached the conclusion to conclude our collaboration in the summer by mutual agreement. Our aim is to undergo a sporting reorientation with a new coach for the 2024/25 season.”
He further emphasized the immediate objectives, urging every member of the club to strive for excellence in both the Champions League and the Bundesliga. Despite a setback in the first leg against Lazio Rome, Dreesen expressed confidence in the team’s ability to advance to the quarterfinals with the support of their fans at the Allianz Arena.
Tuchel echoed these sentiments, affirming their commitment to achieving maximum success until the end of the season. Since taking over as head coach in March 2023, Tuchel led Bayern to a Bundesliga title shortly thereafter. However, recent Bundesliga defeats to Leverkusen and Bochum, coupled with a challenging Champions League campaign, have prompted the decision to terminate Tuchel’s contract one year ahead of schedule.
The search for a new coach is reportedly underway, with names like Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen and Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool emerging as top contenders to lead Bayern Munich into the next chapter of their illustrious history.
