Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy and Colombian global icon Shakira have reunited ahead of their highly anticipated performance at the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
Burna Boy shared a video on his X account showing the two artists exchanging hugs, smiles, and laughter during rehearsals at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Sunday’s World Cup final will take place.
The Grammy-winning singer captioned the post: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
The pair are set to perform “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the tournament’s inaugural Super Bowl-style halftime spectacle.
FIFA confirmed that the traditional 15-minute halftime break will be expanded to accommodate the entertainment show, featuring an extended program combining match analysis and a major musical performance.
The halftime event will include appearances from several international stars, including BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus, Coldplay, Sesame Street, and The Muppets, as part of a global celebration linked to education initiatives supporting children worldwide.
Burna Boy and Shakira previously performed “Dai Dai” during the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the song was unveiled as the official anthem of the tournament.
Sunday’s final will see Argentina, the reigning Copa América champions, face Spain, the European champions, in a highly anticipated showdown for football’s biggest prize.
