Nigerian comedian and social media influencer, Chukwuebuka Amuzie, popularly known as Brainjotter, has raised over N20 million for a physically challenged fan, Queen Onwunachie, during his show in Abuja on May 25.
In a heartfelt post on his verified Instagram page on Thursday, Brainjotter shared the touching story of how he met Onwunachie. He recounted that she was the first to arrive at the venue and watched as his team set up the sound equipment.
“The show I planned in Abuja wasn’t my show; it was a woman’s show. I didn’t know that God had other plans,” Brainjotter said in pidgin English in a video released on Thursday.
Recounting the encounter, he said, “I was in my hotel room at the Transcorp Hilton when I came downstairs and saw this lady sitting. I wasn’t aware that she didn’t have hands or legs; she wore prosthetics.”
After taking pictures with her, Onwunachie went upstairs to join the audience with regular tickets. Brainjotter initially intended to make one person a millionaire during his show, but “God had other plans.”
During the performance, Brainjotter and fellow comedian Samuel Perry, known as Broda Shaggi, began selecting random people from the crowd. Brainjotter recalled the lady on crutches he had met earlier and decided to bring her to the stage.
“As Shaggi was about to pick someone else, my mind went straight to that lady. I remembered her,” Brainjotter explained.
Onwunachie was called from the regular section and helped to the front of the stage by bouncers and other attendees. The initial plan was to raise N1 million for her, but the generosity of the audience and sponsors quickly exceeded expectations.
In total, over N20 million was raised, and a sponsor pledged to process Onwunachie’s visa to Canada.
“So I want to say thank you to my benefactor, Brainjotter, and I want to thank Transcorp Hilton for accommodating me for the night. I am so grateful. God will bless everyone who contributed, and God will bless Brainjotter abundantly,” Onwunachie expressed her gratitude.
Brainjotter also took the opportunity to inspire his fans. “Don’t give up on your dreams. You don’t know when God wants to bless you; it always looks like a dream. Someone who came to a show paying N19,000 went home with over N20 million. The reward for gratitude is brighter. On behalf of myself and my team, I want to say thank you to Abuja,” he said.
The event has since received widespread acclaim on social media, with many praising Brainjotter for his generosity and compassion.
