Nigeria’s Favour Ofili secured her place in the semi-finals of the women’s 200m event at the Olympics with a season-best time of 22.24 seconds. Competing in her first Olympics, Ofili impressed by winning her heat against a strong field that included Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Gambia’s Gina Bass-Bittaye.
Ofili’s remarkable performance placed her second overall, just behind the USA’s Gabrielle Thomas. Asher-Smith finished closely behind with a time of 22.28 seconds, while Bass-Bittaye clocked in at 22.84 seconds.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for Ofili, who has demonstrated her potential on the international stage and is now set to compete for a spot in the final.
