Tyson Fury has confidently declared that he will knock out Oleksandr Usyk in their highly anticipated heavyweight title rematch set for December 21 in Riyadh. Fury, who lost his undefeated record to the Ukrainian in their first bout in May, is eager to avenge the split decision loss that cost him the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles.
The defeat marked Fury’s first in 35 professional fights, and the British boxer is determined to come back stronger. Drawing from his history in rematches, where he knocked out both Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora in subsequent fights after going the full distance with them initially, Fury is confident he can repeat this feat against Usyk.
Speaking at a press conference in London on Wednesday, Fury said, “I have to be a little bit more focused and smart to get the victory. My rematches with people, I always end up knocking them out, so I’m envisaging something similar against Usyk.”
Usyk, who remains unbeaten in his 22 professional bouts, added some humor to the event, bringing a photo of him landing a punch on Fury to the press conference and getting Fury to sign it. Usyk’s lighthearted antics didn’t distract Fury, who emphasized that he has learned valuable lessons from his defeat and is ready to come back stronger.
“I believe it’s my time this time, and all things that happen, positive or negative, are lessons,” Fury added. “We’re here to knock each other out and to put on a show for the paying customer.”
Although the rematch promises another thrilling encounter, only three of the heavyweight title belts will be on the line this time. Usyk vacated the IBF title in June, and Daniel Dubois, who recently knocked out Anthony Joshua, now holds that belt.
Boxing fans are eagerly awaiting this explosive rematch, with both fighters determined to prove their dominance in the heavyweight division.
