The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a High Court judge, Justice Faruk Bunza, by suspected terrorists in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
The judge was reportedly kidnapped from his residence, prompting an immediate security response.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Bashir Usman, said the command had commenced efforts to secure the judge’s release.
Usman disclosed that following the report of the abduction, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, ordered the deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of Justice Bunza.
The police assured residents that security operatives are actively pursuing the perpetrators and are committed to rescuing the judge unharmed.
The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity and the increasing targeting of prominent individuals by armed criminal groups in parts of the country.
