Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci is gearing up for another historic culinary feat as she prepares to attempt the world record for the largest pot of jollof rice — and she’s receiving global support.
The Guinness World Records (GWR) has officially acknowledged the upcoming attempt and publicly wished her well. In a comment on Hilda’s social media post, the organization wrote: “Best of luck Hilda and team!” — a gesture that has sparked excitement among her fans worldwide.
Hilda, who became a global sensation in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, is set to cook an astonishing 250 bags of rice in one massive pot. The record-breaking attempt will take place at Eko Hotels in Lagos, with more than 20,000 fans and supporters already registered to attend.
Originally scheduled to hold at Muri Okunola Park, the venue was moved to Eko Hotels to accommodate the overwhelming public interest.
In the hours leading up to the event, Hilda was seen sharing a heartfelt prayer moment with her mother, seeking strength, protection, and endurance. Many spectators were moved by the scene, noting the pivotal role her mother has played in her inspiring journey.
Hilda also added a playful note on social media, saying, “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
The much-anticipated event is expected to draw massive crowds and once again place Nigerian cuisine on the global stage.
