Former militant leader, Asari Dokubo,
has expressed his confidence in possessing the
necessary manpower and
capability to overcome a military junta in the Niger Republic. In a statement
captured in a widely circulated video, Dokubo asserted that he and his
affiliated group are primed to embark on a mission to the Niger Republic if
officially sanctioned by the Federal government.
Dokubo went on to emphasize that
his cadre, colloquially referred to as “his boys,” would be capable
of not only prevailing over the military junta in Niger but also of
reestablishing a democratic system in the country. He underlined that this
assertion is not to be misconstrued as mere grandiloquence, but a testament to
the readiness and determination of his group.
In his own words, Dokubo conveyed,
“Should the government entrust me and my associates with the
responsibility of intervening in the Niger Republic, we shall wholeheartedly
accept the mission. We harbor the conviction that we will emerge triumphant
after dismantling the opposition, and we shall return with our mission
accomplished.” He sought to convey that his confidence was grounded in
concrete preparations and capabilities, not mere empty rhetoric.
Dokubo didn’t shy away from
dismissing the notion of any obstacles presented by neighboring countries, particularly
the Benin Republic. He boldly expressed that the individuals residing there
are, like those from his group, ordinary humans with no insurmountable
advantage. He reiterated his belief that, if need be, his group would confront
any opposition that emerges from the Benin Republic with the same determination
and prowess.
Amidst these developments,
diplomatic negotiations and efforts to reconcile divergent parties are
presently in progress between the military junta in Niger and various African
leaders. The situation remains dynamic as stakeholders engage in dialogues
aimed at resolving the political impasse and facilitating a peaceful transition
in the Niger Republic.
