Following her suspension by the Athletics Integrity Unit
(AIU) due to missing drug tests,
Oluwatobiloba Amusan is determined to confront
and resolve the allegations against her before the upcoming World Athletics
Championship in Budapest.
The 26-year-old athlete staunchly maintains her innocence and
asserts that she is regularly tested by the AIU, remaining a clean competitor
in the sport. Her primary goal is to defend her title at the upcoming
championship, and she remains resolute in her determination to clear her name.
Announcing the charge against her on social media, Amusan
declared her intention to contest the accusation and seek a fair judgment from
a tribunal of three arbitrators before the championship begins.
The AIU’s anti-doping rules state that missing tests within a
12-month period is considered a violation, carrying a potential two-year
suspension. However, depending on the circumstances, the penalty may be reduced
to a minimum of one year.
Amusan’s previous accomplishments have been remarkable,
including setting a world record for the women’s 100m hurdles and securing
numerous titles in different competitions. Despite her recent challenges, she
remains confident and determined to overcome these obstacles and continue her
impressive journey in the world of athletics.
