The Kwara State Government has reunited 146 victims of the Woro community kidnapping in Kaiama Local Government Area with their families after 21 days of rehabilitation in Ilorin.
The victims, rescued on August 5 after being abducted during the February 3 attack, also received financial assistance. Adults were given N1 million each, youths N500,000, and children N200,000.
The Chairman of Kaiama LGA, Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi, commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for supporting the victims, while urging residents to cooperate with security agencies.
Three victims remain in hospital, while the Woro intervention committee said 13 others were still in captivity. The community also appealed for improved security, electricity and support for farmers affected by the attacks.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA killed two suspected terrorists during an ambush in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles after the gun battle. The operation followed intelligence about terrorists moving rustled cattle through the Maikujera area.
In Kogi State, security operatives rescued 11 people, including NYSC members, after armed men attacked two buses along the Aloma–Egane Expressway in Ofu LGA.
Police said the victims were rescued during a coordinated bush-combing operation after the attackers fled. Most of those rescued were NYSC members travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja.
Security forces are continuing operations in the area to locate any remaining victims and arrest the perpetrators.
