n a significant development, the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal is poised to deliver its judgment on Monday, concluding a legal battle initiated by the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran, popularly referred to as Jandor.
This announcement was made by the panel’s presiding judge, Justice Arum Ashom, who communicated the decision to all involved parties on Saturday.
At the heart of this legal dispute lies the challenge to the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 governorship elections in Lagos State, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The legal proceedings, which have spanned several months, reached a crucial juncture on August 12 when lawyers representing Rhodes-Vivour and Jandor presented their final written arguments before the tribunal.
As anticipation mounts ahead of the tribunal’s judgment, all eyes are on the outcome of this legal battle, which has the potential to reshape the political landscape of Lagos State.
