The quartet comprising Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Chidi Okezie, and Esther Elo Joseph delivered an impressive performance, clinching one of the two automatic qualification spots available.
During Heat 2 of the event, Nigeria’s relay team showcased their prowess, clocking a remarkable time of 3:13.79. Despite finishing second behind the formidable United States team, Nigeria’s performance was enough to secure their ticket to the Olympics.
From the outset, it was evident that the race would be a showdown between Nigeria and the United States, with both teams maintaining a considerable lead over their competitors. Chidi Okezie’s outstanding third leg, completed in an impressive time of 44.78, positioned Nigeria well for a strong finish. However, the experienced Olympic gold medalist, Kendall Ellis, proved to be a formidable opponent for Esther Elo Joseph during the anchor leg, leading the United States to victory.
