‘Peace Over Blood’: Peter Okoye Speaks on Ongoing Dispute with P-Square Family

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has pushed back against claims that a woman is responsible for the renewed rift within the Okoye family, insisting the conflict stems from long-standing internal issues involving trust, loyalty, and the management of their music business.

In a series of posts shared on Wednesday via his X account, the singer—popularly known as Mr P—dismissed what he described as a misleading narrative linking women to the family’s breakdown. He stated that no external party influenced the alleged misconduct, stressing that the problems date back decades before any marriages within the family.

According to him, the crisis is rooted in what he described as years of betrayal and financial wrongdoing. He noted that he has chosen to distance himself from certain family members in order to safeguard his wellbeing, despite public criticism.

The artist said prioritising his mental health had become necessary, even if it meant severing ties. He emphasised that personal boundaries were essential, declaring that his peace of mind takes precedence over family ties.

Okoye also confirmed that the dispute remains unresolved and is now being addressed through legal channels, indicating that court proceedings are ongoing.

The latest comments come amid renewed attention on the prolonged crisis involving Paul Okoye and their elder brother Jude Okoye. The trio have experienced multiple fallouts over the years, largely centred on management control, finances, and creative direction.

P-Square, once one of Africa’s most successful music groups, initially split in 2017 following internal disagreements. Although the brothers reunited in 2021 to widespread excitement, tensions later resurfaced, leading to another breakdown in relations.

The dispute has since expanded into the legal arena, with Jude Okoye currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of money laundering and diversion of royalties. He has denied the charges, and the case remains before the Lagos State High Court, with further proceedings scheduled for May 15, 2026.

Recent court developments have also revealed that Peter Okoye is a co-signatory to the Northside Entertainment Limited account, adding another layer to the complex legal and family dispute.
