Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime partner, Georgina Rodríguez, reportedly signed a marriage contract shortly before their reported wedding, setting out separate ownership arrangements for their assets.
The couple are said to have formalised their marriage in a private civil ceremony in Lisbon on Tuesday, with their children and four witnesses reportedly in attendance.
According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias, Ronaldo and Rodríguez signed the agreement on August 10, one day before the reported wedding, at a public notary’s office in Lisbon.
The reported contract provides for a separation of assets, meaning properties, investments and other possessions acquired by either party before the marriage would remain individually owned.
The arrangement also establishes a legal framework for the couple’s financial affairs and could determine how certain assets are treated should their marital circumstances change in the future.
Marriage certificate reveals personal details
Jornal de Notícias also reportedly published a copy of the couple’s marriage certificate containing personal information about both Ronaldo and Rodríguez.
The document reportedly identifies Ronaldo by his full name and lists his age, birthplace and parents’ names. The footballer, 41, was identified as being from Madeira, Portugal.
Rodríguez, 32, was reportedly listed as having been born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The reported documents also indicate that the couple are expected to retain their respective surnames following the marriage, with Rodríguez continuing to use her family name rather than adopting Ronaldo’s surname.
Private ceremony
The reported civil ceremony was officiated by registrar Maria Manuel Ferreira de Campos Folhadela de Oliveira, who travelled from Porto to Cascais for the occasion.
The ceremony was reportedly kept private, with the couple’s children and four witnesses said to have been present.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez have been together for several years and have frequently attracted international attention because of the footballer’s global fame and considerable wealth.
