Victor
Osimhen, the talented Super Eagles forward, has recently presented a fresh
request to Napoli
concerning the details of his upcoming contract with the
club.
According to
reports from Sky Italia via The Mirror, Osimhen has insisted on having a 120
million euros (approximately N105.8 billion in Nigerian currency) release
clause included in his new contract, differing from Napoli’s initial proposal.
Napoli,
aiming to safeguard their interests, had planned to insert a substantial 200
million euros release clause in the new deal, a sum that would rank Osimhen
among the most expensive footballers of all time when he eventually departs the
club.
The inclusion
of the release clause is one of the primary points of contention between the
Nigerian striker and the Italian champions, alongside disagreements concerning
his salary.
It has been
disclosed that Napoli initially offered Osimhen a yearly salary of 7 million
euros, an offer that the player has found inadequate.
While
Osimhen’s current contract is set to expire in 2025, Napoli is cautious about
taking any undue risks and hence wishes to extend the contract.
Despite the
existing differences over the contract terms, there remains a sense of optimism
that both parties will eventually reach a mutual agreement.
