LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES — Colombian superstar Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats heavyweight Burna Boy are continuing to dominate the global music scene, with their World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai,” retaining the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 several weeks after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the latest Billboard rankings, “Dai Dai” has now spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, while it has maintained an even longer reign on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, where it has topped the ranking for eight weeks.
The song recorded 44.1 million streams worldwide and sold about 6,000 copies during the latest tracking period, which covered August 7 through August 13, according to data from Luminate.
The continued success of the song comes nearly one month after the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, which was held on July 19 in New Jersey, United States.
“Dai Dai” received a major boost from its association with the tournament, with Shakira and Burna Boy performing the song during the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City and later returning to the global stage for a performance during the halftime show at the tournament’s final.
The track first reached the summit of the Billboard Global 200 in mid-July, as excitement surrounding the World Cup reached its peak. However, its continued dominance after the tournament has ended demonstrates that its popularity has extended beyond the football competition.
The collaboration has also become a significant milestone in Burna Boy’s international career.
For the Nigerian singer, “Dai Dai” represents his first No. 1 position on the Billboard Global 200, adding another major achievement to his growing list of international successes.
The feat further strengthens Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s leading global music exports, while the collaboration with Shakira has exposed the Afrobeats star to an even wider international audience.
Shakira, meanwhile, continues to demonstrate her ability to remain a dominant force on the global pop stage. Her partnership with Burna Boy has brought together two of the biggest names in contemporary music and produced a song that has remained commercially strong even after the event that helped propel it to worldwide attention.
With millions of global streams and strong digital sales continuing weeks after the World Cup, “Dai Dai” has emerged as one of the tournament’s most successful musical releases.
Its sustained performance on both Billboard global charts also highlights the growing influence of collaborations between African and international music stars, particularly as Afrobeats continues to expand its presence across global markets.
