In a surprising fusion of hip-hop culture and British football, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has officially become a co-owner of Swansea City Football Club. The Welsh Championship side announced the partnership on Thursday, confirming growing speculation after the artist appeared in a promotional video wearing the club’s new home kit for the 2025–26 season.
Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, joins the club’s expanding ownership group alongside former Real Madrid midfielder and Croatian international Luka Modrić, who recently acquired a stake following his move to AC Milan. The 53-year-old rapper’s involvement is seen as a strategic move to expand Swansea’s global appeal and attract new revenue streams as the club chases promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 2018.
“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop said in a statement on the club’s website. “The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club—an underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”
The move follows the 2023 takeover by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who are working to modernize Swansea’s operations, increase financial flexibility under the UK’s profit and sustainability rules, and build a competitive squad capable of returning to England’s top flight.
With over 100 million followers across his social media platforms, Snoop Dogg is expected to play a key role in raising the Swans’ international visibility, much like what actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have done with Welsh club Wrexham, which has seen a meteoric rise since their purchase in 2020.
“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City,” the owners said in a statement. “Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.”
While details of the financial investment have not been disclosed, insiders suggest Snoop Dogg’s role will include promotional campaigns and brand partnerships, particularly targeting U.S. and global audiences.
With renewed backing, star-studded support, and increased media attention, Swansea City could soon be writing a new chapter in its history—this time with a soundtrack curated by one of hip-hop’s most iconic voices.
