Tinubu Applauds Wike as FCT Unveils 10.5km Access Roads to Renewed Hope City

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for delivering key road infrastructure to the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City in Karsana, describing the project as a major step in opening up the district for housing and economic development.

The President made the remarks on Friday during the inauguration of the 10.5-kilometre access roads leading to the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in Karsana West District, Abuja. He was represented at the ceremony by Godswill Akpabio.

Tinubu said the completion of the road network fulfilled his earlier directive that engineering infrastructure should be put in place before residents moved into the housing estate.

According to the President, affordable housing projects can only achieve their objectives when they are supported by accessible roads and essential infrastructure.

“When I performed the groundbreaking for the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City here in Karsana, I gave one clear directive: provide the roads, provide the engineering infrastructure, and unlock this district for development. Housing without access is a blueprint without a building,” he said.

He noted that the newly completed Arterial Roads N11, N16, N40 and Special Important Local Street 03 now connect Karsana West District to the Outer Northern Expressway, making the housing development more accessible, secure and suitable for habitation.

Tinubu also said the project reflected a departure from the era of abandoned public projects.

“For too long, Abuja’s story was ‘awarded and abandoned contracts’. Today, we are ending that story with roads that open, not ones that stall,” he said.

The President praised Wike for executing the assignment promptly, saying he had demonstrated commitment to delivering results.

“I gave that assignment to a minister who treats deadlines as duties. I told the honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, that civil servants, families and investors cannot live in houses they cannot reach. ‘Open Karsana, and open it now.’ He took that brief, set the pace and delivered,” Tinubu stated.

He further commended the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, alongside engineers and officials of the FCT Administration, for ensuring the project was completed according to schedule and specification.

Addressing the gathering, Wike recalled that Karsana lacked proper road access when Tinubu performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Renewed Hope Estate in 2024.

He said developers had expressed concerns that their investments would be difficult to realise without adequate infrastructure, prompting the Federal Government to accelerate the construction of the access roads.

According to the minister, prompt funding by the Federal Government enabled the contractor to complete the project within the agreed timeline.

In her remarks, Mahmoud described the road project as another milestone in the implementation of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She said the new road network would stimulate economic activities, improve transportation links and enhance access to affordable housing within the Federal Capital Territory.

The minister also urged residents and other stakeholders to protect and maintain the public infrastructure to ensure it continues to serve future generations.
