President Bola Tinubu arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, early Monday to participate in the Africa Forward Summit, a major continental gathering focused on investment, sustainable development and economic transformation across Africa.
The Nigerian leader’s aircraft landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at approximately 12:18 a.m. local time, according to a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu was welcomed on arrival by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, alongside Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Isaac Parashina, senior Kenyan government officials and members of Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Nairobi.
The summit, jointly hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, is expected to bring together African leaders, policymakers, investors and development partners to discuss strategies for economic growth, innovation and stronger continental partnerships.
According to the presidency, Tinubu’s participation highlights Nigeria’s commitment to promoting African unity, expanding regional economic cooperation and strengthening strategic alliances aimed at driving sustainable development and infrastructure growth across the continent.
Discussions at the summit are expected to focus on digital innovation, trade expansion, infrastructure financing, climate resilience and broader strategies to enhance long-term prosperity across Africa.
During the event, the Nigerian president is also expected to engage in bilateral and multilateral meetings designed to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic relations with other African nations while reinforcing the country’s leadership role within the region.
The presidency noted that Tinubu’s attendance aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects efforts to promote African-led solutions to continental challenges through diplomacy, investment partnerships and international cooperation.
The president was accompanied by several senior government officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola.
Other members of the delegation include Minister of Environment Balarabe Lawal, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole, and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani, alongside senior diplomats and investment officials.
