Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed head coach Thomas Frank following Tuesday night’s 2–1 home loss to Newcastle United, Sky Sports have reported.
The decision brings an end to the Dane’s short spell in north London, with Spurs struggling in 16th place on the Premier League table. Although the club remain five points above the relegation zone, a prolonged run of poor results left the board with little choice but to act.
Frank, who arrived last summer from Brentford after earning praise for consistently overachieving with limited resources, was unable to replicate that success at Tottenham. His tenure was marked by inconsistent performances and a sharp downturn in results, including a failure to record a single league win in eight Premier League matches in 2026.
The 2–1 defeat to Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium proved decisive. While there were early signs of progress, Spurs have struggled for balance, creativity and defensive stability in recent weeks. Frank also leaves with the unwanted record of the lowest Premier League home win percentage by a Tottenham manager since 2008.
In a statement posted on X, the club confirmed the decision to relieve Frank of his duties.
“The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today,” the statement read.
“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.
“Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Tottenham are expected to announce interim arrangements as they look to arrest their slide and steer clear of a relegation battle.
