In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Blessing Karami, a university student who had gone missing since September 11, has been discovered lifeless. The distressing news was relayed to THE WHISTLER by her grieving family on Wednesday evening.
Blessing, a diligent student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), had vanished without a trace after leaving her workplace in Garki, Abuja.
Genesis Moses Karami, the elder brother of the deceased who had relocated from Kaduna to lead the search effort in Abuja, shared the grim revelation. He disclosed that her decomposing remains were located in the dense foliage of the Karmo district within the Federal Capital Territory.
The police had taken one Aminu, Blessing’s boyfriend, into custody for questioning regarding her mysterious disappearance.
It is worth noting that THE WHISTLER had previously reported on the 26-year-old Blessing going missing after departing from her workplace earlier than usual, clutching the office key.
Our correspondent had visited the Divisional Police Headquarters in Durumi on Wednesday morning, where Aminu was detained.
Karami had recounted to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) that, on Tuesday evening, he had received a puzzling call with specific details about his sister’s lifeless body. Regrettably, the information turned out to be tragically accurate.
“The caller claimed to have seen a female body in Idu, so we asked him to describe what she was wearing. He provided an accurate description of the outfit my sister had worn to the office on the day she went missing,” Karami had explained to the police.
Karami further revealed that his attempts to reach the DPO were futile, compelling him to journey to the police station in Karmo with a contingent of officers. However, the caller continued to play a cruel cat-and-mouse game, frequently changing locations until they were exhausted and left.
In a subsequent call, Karami confirmed to THE WHISTLER that his sister had indeed met a tragic end.
“We discovered her decomposed body in the Karmo bushes. It’s an unmanageable situation; we need assistance from environmental services to handle the remains. We cannot transport it; thus, we must lay her to rest here. It appears she had been deceased for several days, judging by the extent of decomposition,” Karami said sorrowfully, struggling to maintain composure.
Efforts to communicate with the FCT Police command proved fruitless. Similarly, attempts to reach Hope Jonathan, one of the police officers handling the case at Durumi police station before it was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Development, were unsuccessful as of the time of this press release.
