The admirers of fuji music experienced a surge of excitement
during the past week as
images and videos emerged online, featuring the
renowned fuji musicians—Wasiu Ayinde, known as K1 de Ultimate; Saheed Okunola,
also recognized as Saheed Osupa; and Wasiu Alabi, referred to as Pasuma—united
in a remarkable display.
It had been widely known that these three iconic figures in
the music industry had been estranged for a considerable period of time.
Therefore, it was met with disbelief by many when the trio made a joint
appearance on stage during the 50th birthday celebration of the Islamic singer,
Ahmad Alawiye.
The festivities saw prominent fuji artists taking their turns
to captivate the attendees. When K1 de Ultimate, who also holds the title of
Mayegun of Yorubaland, took the spotlight, he was joined on stage by Pasuma and
Saheed Osupa.
While K1’s performance charmed the guests, Osupa moved around
the venue, exchanging greetings and adorning his friends with naira notes.
Shortly thereafter, he presented K1 with bundles of money, a gesture that K1
reciprocated by singing his praises.
During this musical interaction, K1 drew Pasuma close,
encircling both singers with his arms as they danced in unison. Osupa later
took over the stage from K1, continuing to captivate the audience, with Pasuma
maintaining his dance while lending his vocals to the performance.
The attendees of the event were enthralled by this reunion,
with some even encouraging the trio to collaborate on new songs and albums.
This, they believed, would serve as a testament to the resolution of the
widely-publicized discord within the fuji music realm.
It’s worth recalling that some time ago, Pasuma and Osupa had
a falling-out, leading to the release of songs and albums that contained
pointed criticisms of each other. This discord also extended to K1, especially
due to his close relationship with Pasuma.
Among the distinguished guests at the event were Musiliu
Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and
Garages, along with actress Fathia Balogun and another fuji singer, Sulaimon
Adekunle, popularly known as KS1 Malaika.
