The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for steering Nigeria toward a path of sustainable and positive development.
Wike gave the commendation on Friday during the inauguration of the construction of Collector Road C01 in the Institution and Research District of Abuja. The new road will link the Body of Benchers Complex to Nile University and Baze University, two major educational institutions in the city.
Speaking at the event, Wike said President Tinubu’s approach to governance is realistic and focused, noting that the President never promised to fix all of Nigeria’s challenges at once but is instead laying the groundwork for long-term national progress.
“President Tinubu never said he would solve all of Nigeria’s problems in one term,” Wike stated. “What he has promised — and is delivering — is to place this country on the path of sustainable development. When he finishes, another leader will come and continue from there.”
The FCT Minister emphasized that every administration faces challenges, adding that the measure of good leadership lies in the ability to make meaningful contributions during one’s time in office.
“Challenges will always exist. No leader can fix everything in one administration. What matters is that, when given the opportunity, you leave a legacy of progress. History will remember what you did,” Wike said.
Wike reaffirmed his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that directly benefit Abuja residents, stressing that his administration in the FCT is focused on maximizing available resources to meet citizens’ needs.
He particularly highlighted the importance of the newly launched road project, saying it would significantly improve access and mobility in the area.
“The greatest beneficiaries of this project will be the two universities — Nile and Baze. I hope these private institutions will acknowledge and appreciate what the Tinubu administration is doing. Recognizing such efforts is part of being a responsible citizen,” he added.
The minister’s remarks come as part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Administration to enhance road networks, improve transportation infrastructure, and support the development of educational zones within the capital territory.
