Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has addressed recent controversies surrounding her personal life, disclosing that she voluntarily underwent a drug test amid widespread speculation and online criticism.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the actress said the decision followed months of emotional strain and intense public scrutiny, which she described as a difficult and defining period in her life.
Daniels said she chose to take the test out of a sense of responsibility to those who supported her during the challenging time.
“After much reflection, I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me and the people who look up to me. Integrity, accountability and peace of mind matter,” she wrote.
Reacting to claims circulating on social media that she was abusing hard drugs, Daniels described the allegations as false and deeply hurtful, noting that they forced her into serious self-reflection.
“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was that Regina is a drug addict. I paused and looked at myself repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict,” she said, adding that she eventually realised the claims were a projection of negativity rather than reality.
The actress stressed that she would not allow public opinion to define her, insisting on controlling her own narrative.
Daniels said the experience has ushered her into a new phase of self-discovery and personal growth, while expressing gratitude to God for strength and resilience.
“This chapter of my life is about self-discovery, self-growth and being more intentional about who I am and where I am going. I thank God endlessly for His grace and strength,” she stated.
The development comes amid sustained public attention on her troubled marriage to billionaire businessman and lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko, which has recently been marked by reports of separation and exchanged allegations.
Daniels had previously accused Nwoko of domestic abuse and attempts to force her into rehabilitation through pressure on her family. The senator denied the allegations, claiming instead that his actions were motivated by concern over alleged substance-related issues.
