As part of effort to bring governance to the grassroots, the Lagos
State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa,
initiates ‘Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting’ where community
Leaders, Youths, Artisans, Non-Governmental Organisation, Market Men
and Women comes together to deliberate on pressing issues for the
development of the community and the state at large.
Hon. TPL Rasheed Lanre Makinde representing Ifako Ijaye Constituency
02, Ojokoro LCDA host stakeholders in his community to a town hall
meeting where he reel out his achievement in the last one year in
office as a legislator.
The second of its kind for the 8th Assembly since they took oath of
office in 2015. The theme for the second edition of the constituencies
stakeholders’ meeting, ‘’Community/Neighbourhood Policing Starts with
You’’ took place simultaneously across 40 constituencies in Lagos
State. The discussion venue was filled with stakeholders in Ojokoro
LCDA.
The sole Administrator of Ojokoro LCDA Hon. Dr. Waleeh Adeleke Ipaye
in his welcome address implore the good people of Ojokoro LCDA present
to prepare their minds for what will bring development to the LCDA. “I
want to implore all of us here to assist the government with
suggestions and contribution towards improving the security of Ojokoro
LCDA and Lagos state as a whole. As security of lives and property is
everybody’s business.’’
Lawmaker representing Ifako/ijaiye II ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (TPL) Rasheed
Lanre Makinde in his speech enjoy the members of the public to assist
the Lagos State House Of Assembly LSHA in its constitutional
responsibility of making laws for developmental purpose, he thank the
people for responding to their call to attend the meeting, as he was
certain that the outcome of the meeting will further enhance the
collaborative efforts towards making Lagos the state of the peoples’
dream and a Centre of Excellence that it is.
“For the last one year after we took oath of office, the Rt. Hon.
Mudashiru Obasa led 8th assembly have been working on bringing
legislative activities closer to the people, part of the mechanism is
to hold constituencies stakeholders meeting which we here for, the
theme for discussion had been carefully selected so that we can obtain
first-hand information on possible steps the government can take to
curb the security challenges facing us in the state.’’
‘’our resolution here will be taken to his Excellency the governor of
Lagos State Mr. Akin Ambode for implementation. Let me also say the
8th assembly is working on so many bills, the Lagos Property
Protection bill which has been passed into law is a huge step which
will help to assist Lagosian from land grabbers.”

Makinde concluded.
The people of Ojokoro LCDA who were concise in their observations and
comments made several requests, a foremost youth Barrister Dele
Ogundele observed that the age of those in the neighbourhood policing
calls for attention and he also implore the government to look inward
for adequate funding of the community policing.
Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Elder Olagbemi in his
comment with journalists shortly after the meeting said ‘’the age
group of people in the neighbourhood policing is good, many people
will be happy to give meaningful information to elderly person rather
than a youth who may not even know how to manage the information. The
youth in the neighbourhood policing will also have their own role to
play.’’
The paramount ruler of Ojokoro Land Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo,
implore the LSHA to look into the issue of Lagos State Property
Protection Law again as the law needs some adjustment in some areas
which does not favour the Aworis’ as he describe that his people owns
the largest part of Lagos State. He also call for the quick
construction of Powerline, Ikereku and Adetola Roads to easy the
hardship his people face on those stretch of roads.
Otunba Kehinde Adeosun a member of Arowolo Family in Abule-Egba speaks
on the significance of the Lagos State Property Protection Law as he
enjoin the ministry of Justice and the agency in charge to allow court
judgement supersede any document as this will help to bring sanity to
the system. ‘’Am indeed very happy for the passage of the law on land
grabbers it is a land mark achievement for the assembly members and
governor Ambode as it will help to curb the nuisance of the tout
trading as land owner which they are not.’’
Alhaja Akande a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ojokoro
LCDA calls for more Awareness as the people do not get prompt
information about the government programmes and policies.
The stakeholders’ meeting which serve as a forum for the people to
know the government plans and also an avenue to let the government get
information from the grassroots and a fora to meet with their
legislator, so as to chart a new course for development had so far
been interactive and educative as the people have been able to bear
the minds on social, economy and environmental issues.
Hopes are high as the implementations of issues raised are now in the
purview of the government, as they await improvement in
community/neighbourhood policing.
