
In response to the persistent spate of killings in Plateau State and other regions of Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has initiated a series of protests under the banner of “Plateau Peace Walk.”
The demonstration, aimed at drawing attention to the alarming security challenges, is spearheaded by prominent Christian leaders in the state. The leadership includes Rev. Polycarp Lubo, the state CAN chairman, Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, President of ECWA, Rev. Amos Mohzo, President of COCIN, Rev. Nkechi Nwosu, Bishop of the Methodist Church in Jos, and Rev. Dr. Gideon ParaMallam, President of the Gideon and Funmi-ParaMallam Peace Foundation, among other distinguished Christian figures.
The Plateau Peace Walk commenced at the PRTVC Roundabout in Jos, symbolizing a united stand against the prevailing security crisis. The demonstrators marched towards the Rayfield Government House to vociferously express their disapproval of the current state of security affairs.
As the peaceful protest unfolded, participants carried placards and banners calling for an end to the violence and seeking urgent measures to address the escalating security concerns. The leaders, representing various Christian denominations, aimed to draw attention to the need for immediate action to curb the loss of lives and restore peace in the affected areas.
