The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar, has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to enhancing the combat readiness of the Armed Forces through improved training and equipment to effectively combat insurgency and terrorism.
During a visit to the military operations theatre in Katsina, as reported by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation’s X account, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the troops. Addressing Operation Hadarin Daji at the 213 Forward Operating Base, Katsina, Abubakar highlighted the significant strides made under President Tinubu in the fight against insurgency and related crimes.
“He urged the troops to continue the fight against insurgency and banditry, commending their sacrifices and commitment,” the statement read. Regarding the recent killing of soldiers in Abia State, the minister reassured that the government is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and to prevent such incidents in the future.
Air Commodore G.I. Jibia, Commanding Air Component of the 213 Forward Operation Hadarin Daji, expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit, noting that it would significantly boost troop morale.
Earlier in the visit, the Minister engaged in an interactive session with officers and men of the Headquarters of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, Katsina, to evaluate their preparedness in addressing security threats in the region. Additionally, the Minister visited the Nigerian Army Medical Center in Katsina to sympathize with military personnel injured during combat operations.
Abubakar’s visit underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure that the Armed Forces are well-equipped and motivated to tackle the security challenges facing the nation.
