The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has intensified security operations to safeguard critical national and state assets and prevent any potential breakdown of law and order.
In a statement made in Awka on Monday, the Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC, Maku Olatunde, announced the deployment of personnel across the state. This initiative aims to bolster economic and commercial activities and mitigate the effects of the sit-at-home order typically observed on Mondays.
Olatunde described the move as proactive, emphasizing its focus on protecting banks, financial institutions, parks, schools, government offices, and other potentially vulnerable points. The objective is to maintain public trust and respond promptly to any security breaches.
“The exercise aims to boost economic activities, prevent miscreants, criminals, vagrants, vandals, hooligans, unruly individuals, and economic saboteurs from attacking lawful residents of the state, particularly on Mondays,” Olatunde stated.
He highlighted the importance of professional conduct among the personnel, urging them to enforce civil order while adhering to established rules of engagement and standing operational procedures.
“This deployment is to ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in Anambra State, including banks, markets, parks, recreational centres, schools, government offices, and other strategic locations. You must be vigilant in the discharge of your duties, be professional, courteous, and responsive to the needs of the public,” he instructed.
Olatunde reassured law-abiding residents that they could go about their daily activities without fear or intimidation. He noted that the NSCDC is working in synergy with other security agencies and has implemented measures to counter any threats posed by insurgent groups.
The commandant issued a stern warning to those intending to disrupt the peace in the state, stating that anyone caught in such acts would face severe consequences.
This enhanced security operation underscores NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Anambra State, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
