Adanma Luke, the producer linked to the recent movie set accident, has provided her account of the incident through a series of videos posted on her Instagram. She detailed the circumstances leading to the tragic event, shedding light on her interactions with the late Pope, who lost his life in the mishap.
Luke revealed that she was slated to be on the ill-fated boat, accompanied by her brother’s children. She described the urgency conveyed by her production manager for her to deliver a memory card to the crew. Upon reaching the set, she was met with the devastating news by the Director of Photography (DOP), Emeka, who was clearly shaken by the loss of several crew members.
Despite available life jackets, Luke shared that the late Pope opted not to wear one, finding it unclean. Those who used the life jackets survived and even managed to pass a gallon to Pope, whom they later lost sight of.
Luke emotionally expressed her bond with the crew, viewing them as an extension of her family. She reminisced about her friendship with Pope and discussions they had regarding potential collaborations.
The weight of the tragedy deeply affected Luke, who expressed her anguish and feelings of responsibility, given that the incident happened during her movie shoot. She mourned the loss of her dedicated crew members, many of whom frequently traveled from Asaba to Lagos to assist her.
In response to the accident, the Anambra Police Command has arrested the two boat operators. Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, confirmed their detention. Luke has also cooperatively engaged with the police, and additional cast and crew members are anticipated to be called in for questioning.
Ikenga reassured the public of a comprehensive investigation into the incident, pledging thoroughness in uncovering the causes behind this tragic event.
