The Accord Party has officially cleared Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to contest as the party’s sole aspirant in its 2026 governorship primary, taking place today in Osogbo.
The approval was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the chairman of the screening committee and the party’s National Organising Secretary, Mr. Ibe Thankgod. He confirmed that Adeleke met all necessary requirements for nomination and participation in the primary.
According to Thankgod, the committee concluded all documentation with relevant bodies and subsequently presented the certificate of clearance to the governor. He described Adeleke as a credible and qualified candidate capable of flying the party’s flag in the 2026 election.
Responding, Adeleke expressed gratitude to the committee and party leadership, declaring his readiness for both the primary and the general election.
“I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Adeleke confirmed his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday night, revealing that he had joined the Accord Party over a month ago in preparation for his re-election bid.
