Nigerian airline Air Peace has temporarily suspended one of its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick flights after a routine technical inspection detected a fault on the aircraft shortly after passengers had boarded.
The airline disclosed the development in a statement issued by its management, explaining that the issue was identified during a post-boarding safety check conducted before departure.
According to Air Peace, the aircraft was immediately removed from service in compliance with international aviation safety regulations, while all passengers were safely disembarked from the plane.
The airline emphasized that the action was necessary to maintain its strict safety standards and ensure passenger wellbeing.
“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention. In line with our uncompromising commitment to safety and global aviation standards, the aircraft was promptly withdrawn from service and passengers safely disembarked,” the statement read.
Air Peace acknowledged the inconvenience caused to travelers but stressed that operational schedules would never take precedence over safety considerations.
To ease the disruption, the airline said affected passengers were informed promptly and provided with hotel accommodation and additional support services while alternative arrangements were being made.
The airline further announced that a replacement aircraft would depart from London to operate the delayed Lagos–London Gatwick service and reduce extended waiting time for passengers.
“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our passengers during this period. Their trust remains incredibly important to us,” the airline added.
Air Peace reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safe, reliable, and internationally compliant flight operations across all its routes.
