The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has restated the resolve of the Nigerian Army to intensify operations aimed at defeating terrorism and other security threats across the country.
Shaibu gave the assurance during an operational visit to Yobe State, where he assessed ongoing military activities on the ground and met with troops deployed in frontline operations. The visit was confirmed in a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele.
He said the army is continuously reviewing and adapting its tactics in response to evolving threats while maintaining a strong offensive posture across various theatres of operation.
“The Nigerian Army will remain aggressive and adaptive in responding to evolving threats across various theatres of operation,” Shaibu said.
The army chief also emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between citizens, state authorities, and security agencies, noting that such cooperation is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability.
While commending the government and people of Yobe State for their support for ongoing counter-insurgency efforts, Shaibu urged troops to remain focused and resolute in their duties.
On arrival at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, he was received by Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana.
At the headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai Sector 2 in Damaturu, Shaibu charged personnel to intensify operations against terrorist elements and remain steadfast in their mission. He also urged them to honour fallen colleagues through renewed dedication and sustained offensive action.
In his remarks, Governor Buni praised the military’s resilience and sacrifices in restoring peace to affected communities, describing fallen soldiers as heroes who gave their lives in service to the nation.
Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, accompanied by Senator Ali Ndume, visited the military to express condolences following recent losses in the North-East.
Zulum also pledged to strengthen support measures for security agencies as they continue efforts to address emerging threats in the region.
