Abdulsamad Rabiu, the Chairman of BUA Group, has rejected his nomination to serve as a member of the finance committee established by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In an official statement released by the BUA Group via its X handle on Friday, Rabiu disclosed that his nomination took place without prior consultation.
The statement emphasized BUA Group’s and Rabiu’s longstanding apolitical stance, integral to the nature of their business. It underlined Rabiu’s commitment to fostering economic growth through BUA Group’s initiatives and philanthropic endeavors via ASR Africa.
The released statement stated, “With respect to this, we wish to inform the publishers, our partners, stakeholders, and the general public that Mr. Rabiu has decided to graciously decline the nomination/appointment. This decision is made in light of the fact that he was not previously consulted regarding his inclusion in the list and his inability to commit time due to his demanding schedule.”
Initially nominated to serve as a member of the 34-member committee constituted by the APC on Thursday, Rabiu’s decision to decline the appointment reflects his commitment to maintaining an apolitical stance and the need for prior consultation before such nominations.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC had convened to constitute various committees, including the finance committee, during its meeting at the national secretariat in Abuja.
