The newly appointed Minister of Defence and former Chief of Defence Staff, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, officially assumed office on Friday at the Ministry of Defence headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.
Gen. Musa, who was appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu following the resignation of former Defence Minister Muhammed Badaru, received Senate confirmation on Thursday. His return to the ministry has been widely applauded, with stakeholders expressing confidence that his experience and decisive leadership style—demonstrated during his tenure as defence chief from 2023 to 2025—will strengthen national security operations.
Upon arrival at about 11:10 a.m., the new minister inspected the quarter guard in accordance with military tradition before exchanging greetings with service chiefs and senior ministry officials.
He later proceeded into a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and directors of the ministry as he begins his new mandate.
