Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has presented the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from the newly inaugurated Dangote Refinery. The presentation took place on Tuesday during a broadcast at the refinery located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
In his remarks, Dangote expressed his gratitude to the people of Nigeria and acknowledged the government’s role under President Bola Tinubu in providing a conducive environment for growth, development, and prosperity. He particularly praised President Tinubu for introducing the “Naira for crude” initiative, which he believes will contribute significantly to stabilizing the Naira.
“I would like to salute the people of Nigeria and the government of President Bola Tinubu for giving us the platform for growth, development, and prosperity. I also want to thank him personally for creating the idea of the Naira for crude. Doing that will give Naira stability,” Dangote stated.
He further emphasized the importance of the refinery in accurately determining Nigeria’s true fuel consumption, noting that the facility will enable the tracking of every loaded truck and ship. This advancement, according to Dangote, is crucial for enhancing transparency and efficiency in the nation’s oil and gas sector.
Dangote also highlighted that the refinery’s capacity extends beyond serving Nigeria, as it is poised to meet the energy needs of the broader sub-Saharan African region. The Dangote Refinery, once fully operational, is expected to be a game-changer in the continent’s oil industry, reducing reliance on imports and boosting economic stability.
