The Department of State Services (DSS) has intercepted a suspected illegal arms supply chain believed to be connected to recent violent attacks in Plateau State and nearby regions, leading to the arrest of an alleged arms manufacturer and distributor.
The suspect, identified as Musa Abubakar, was apprehended on November 12, 2025, after intelligence reports directed DSS operatives to his workshop located in Mista Ali, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the DSS said Abubakar had allegedly been producing and supplying high-calibre weapons, ammunition, and components of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to armed groups operating within Plateau and other northern states.
Recovered items from the workshop reportedly included IED components, chemicals, and weapon-making equipment.
The DSS added that Abubakar confessed to manufacturing and distributing arms used in violent attacks across the region, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts.
This development follows closely after the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki (a.k.a Bomboy), a Kuje prison escapee accused of participating in the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks, as well as the earlier arrest of nine other suspects including 46-year-old Timna Manjol.
Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to dismantling terror networks and restoring peace in affected communities.
