The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged Nigerians defrauded by the cryptocurrency platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), to step forward with evidence that could aid its ongoing prosecution of suspects linked to the scheme.
In a statement released on Friday in Ibadan, the Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, revealed that the anti-graft agency is currently prosecuting three individuals — Adefowora Olanipekun, Otorudo Avwerosuo, and Ehirim Chukwuebuka — over their alleged involvement in the multimillion-naira scam.
According to the EFCC, CBEX attracted unsuspecting investors with promises of mouthwatering returns, but the platform eventually collapsed, leaving victims with devastating financial losses.
“The EFCC is inviting victims who invested their funds through individuals linked to the CBEX offices in Ibadan and Idimu, Lagos, to report to its Ibadan Zonal Directorate and Lagos Zonal Directorate 2,” the statement read.
The commission stressed that testimonies and supporting evidence from victims would be critical in securing justice against the alleged perpetrators.
This move comes as part of EFCC’s intensified efforts to clamp down on fraudulent digital investment schemes that continue to target Nigerians desperate for quick financial gains.
