In a move that contrasts sharply with his 2020 vow to “own no house,” tech magnate Elon Musk has reportedly purchased a $35 million, 14,400-square-foot compound in Texas. According to The New York Times, the estate will house Musk’s 11 children and their three mothers, helping the billionaire juggle family time across multiple households.
The newly acquired property includes two separate structures: one styled as a Tuscan villa and another six-bedroom residence directly adjacent. Sources told the NYT that Musk took extensive measures to maintain privacy, including requiring the sellers to sign non-disclosure agreements.
The setup is intended to simplify Musk’s family dynamics, particularly by allowing the younger children to “be part of one another’s lives.” Musk has five children with his first wife, Justine Wilson, with whom he was married from 2000 to 2008. He has three more children with musician Grimes, though the two are currently in a custody dispute. Additionally, Musk has three children with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, who has already moved into one of the homes on the compound, according to the report.
Known for his outspoken views on the importance of population growth, Musk has even reportedly offered his own sperm to friends and acquaintances concerned about fertility. One notable offer went to Nicole Shanahan, former vice presidential candidate, further underscoring Musk’s commitment to his stance on combating declining birth rates.
This recent acquisition highlights Musk’s desire to consolidate his family in a central location and manage quality time with his children amid his many business pursuits.
