In a stern message directed at informants of kidnappers, bandits, and criminals, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned them to repent or face dire consequences at the hands of security operatives. The minister delivered this caution during a town hall security meeting held in Kuje town within the Kuje Area Council of the territory.
Addressing the gathering, Wike emphasized the need for a collective effort in combating insecurity and urged residents of the Area Council to actively participate by providing relevant information to assist security agencies. He stated, “We are going to tackle insecurity head-on. These bandits and criminals, their time is up. I know some of the criminal informants are here listening to me, and if you are an informant, you will die the same way those people you are informing will die.”
The minister underscored the gravity of the situation and presented an opportunity for repentance, cautioning that those who choose not to repent would face severe consequences. Wike highlighted the recent actions of security agencies in the area, emphasizing a departure from business as usual.
He further emphasized the importance of empowering vigilance groups and ensuring thorough profiling, enabling security agencies to identify and address potential threats effectively. Wike encouraged residents to collaborate with security agencies, assuring them that the government is committed to tackling the issue of insecurity.
In addition to the security concerns, the minister expressed shock at the state of roads in the Kuje Area Council. He pledged to revisit the council’s file and initiate the construction of motorable roads to improve the overall infrastructure for the local residents.
