Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The station, situated within the office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in the state capital, was unveiled amid increasing political mobilisation linked to President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election campaign, particularly across the South-South region.
Footage of the commissioning, shared on Saturday by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, showed the former Rivers State governor inspecting the broadcast facility and engaging with station personnel.
Posting the video on his X handle, Olayinka wrote that the radio station would serve as a key communication tool for promoting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda in Rivers State.
“It is Majority FM 89.5, located inside the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office in Port Harcourt, that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has just commissioned,” he said.
Speaking during the unveiling, Wike described the station as a strategic platform for spreading political messages across Rivers State.
“This will take our messages to all the 6,866 units of Rivers State. We are ready for this task. We are ready for 2027,” the minister said.
The launch signals an expansion of grassroots political communication infrastructure as preparations intensify ahead of the next general elections.
