On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA)
carried out the
demolition of a high-value duplex constructed on plot 226
within Wuse Zone 6, an area not authorized for development. This action was
disclosed by Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of the Department of
Development Control. Galadima highlighted that the construction had occurred in
defiance of numerous warnings, and his team had conducted an extensive inquiry
to establish the true owner of the plot, given the conflicting claims made by
various parties.
The investigation ultimately revealed that the builder had no
legal claim to the plot. Galadima explained, “This is the reason we deemed
it necessary to dismantle the structure.” He emphasized that the FCT
Administration is unwavering in its stance that no considerations will be given
to developers who breach established guidelines and regulations.
Galadima underlined, “The duplex was demolished because
it was constructed on land belonging to someone else, lacking valid ownership
and the requisite building plan approval.” He further clarified that the
decision to allow the construction to progress to its current state prior to
demolition was a result of adhering to the complete procedural process. This
information was reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
