Hakeem Ayodeji Nafiu, a Nigerian educator and doctoral candidate based in the United States, has been appointed a Global Peace Chain Ambassador for the 2025–2026 cycle. The appointment recognizes individuals whose work contributes to the United Nations’ vision of global peace and sustainable development.
Nafiu’s selection is rooted in years of work at the intersection of education, ethical leadership, and youth advocacy. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Administration at Carolina University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where his research examines leadership ethics and social responsibility in early childhood education settings. That focus places his academic work within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 4, which calls for inclusive and equitable quality education at all levels.
Alongside his studies, Nafiu is the founder of OLAAN Global Academy, a subsidiary of OLAAN Global and Associates Inc., an international teacher professional development platform with offices in Abuja, Nigeria; Regina, Saskatchewan; and Greensboro, North Carolina. The academy serves educators across 12 countries through structured training programs, micro-credentialing, and policy-informed curriculum resources. He also serves as an admissions counselor as well as an assistant instructor at Carolina University, where he teaches graduate courses in Conflict Resolution and Change Theory and Practice.
At the international level, Nafiu has represented both Carolina University and OLAAN Global Academy in forums connected to the United Nations. In January 2026, he participated as a delegate at a Global Peace Chain event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan, where over 85 international delegates gathered to address conflict prevention and education-driven development. He is also a registered representative for the ECOSOC 2026 Youth Forum, a formal UN platform for youth engagement in global policy.
His body of work reflects a consistent argument: that teacher development and ethical education are not peripheral concerns but foundational ones, and that communities investing in both are the ones most capable of shaping the next generation of leaders.
His appointment as a Global Peace Chain Ambassador reflects the reach and consistency of a career built on the belief that education, when done right, is one of the most durable paths to peace.
