The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning over the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles following the detection of undeclared milk and egg allergens that could pose serious health risks to consumers.
The alert, contained in Public Alert No. 041/2025 dated December 18, 2025, followed a recall notice issued by Rappel Conso of France, the French food safety authority. Laboratory analysis reportedly confirmed the presence of milk and egg components that were not declared on the product’s label.
NAFDAC said the recall covers all batches of the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026, noting that the country of origin was not specified in the recall notice.
In a statement, the agency said the undeclared allergens could trigger severe reactions in people with allergies or food intolerances.
“Although the official risk of these products entering Nigeria is low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation, there is still the possibility of illicit entry or circulation through unofficial channels,” NAFDAC stated.
The agency noted that Indomie noodles are widely consumed in many countries due to their affordability and convenience, but warned that the hidden presence of milk and eggs could endanger vulnerable consumers.
To mitigate the risk, NAFDAC said it has activated nationwide surveillance measures. Zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to intensify monitoring and immediately seize and remove the recalled product if found anywhere in the country.
The agency also cautioned distributors, retailers and consumers to remain vigilant and avoid the sale, distribution or consumption of the recalled product. Consumers who encounter the affected noodles have been advised to discard them immediately.
Members of the public were further urged to report any sighting or suspected sale of the recalled Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s toll-free line 0800-162-3322.
NAFDAC added that any adverse reactions linked to the product should be reported via its offices or through the e-reporting platforms available on the agency’s official website.
