Popular Nollywood actor
Jim Iyke opened up about a personal issue that not many people were aware

of –
his failed marriage. Jim Iyke, who has three children, revealed that he took
responsibility for the collapse of his marriage, attributing it to the devastating
loss of his mother.

Jim Iyke made this
revelation while speaking in an interview with media personality Chude
Jideonwo.

Jim Iyke expressed how
deeply the death of his mother affected him emotionally. He confessed that
during the grieving process, he unintentionally abandoned his partner, who had
recently given birth to their first son. Devastated by the loss of his mother,
he poured all his love and attention into their child while inadvertently
neglecting his wife.

Reflecting on his failed
marriage, Jim Iyke admitted, “I have had a failed marriage, but nobody
knows that. I have three kids. I caused my marriage to fail. I am not the type
to blame anybody for my mistakes. There is a saying, ‘to boss up, own up.’
There is a part of me that would take the easier route out.”

The actor confessed that
every time he made a mistake in life, it was usually because he acted out of
emotion rather than logic. He acknowledged his tendency to become mediocre when
he allowed his emotions to overpower him, conceding that he lacked emotional
intelligence during those times.

Jim Iyke went on to
reveal that he was not immediately informed of his mother’s passing due to his
close relationship with her. It took a staggering 72 hours for the news to
reach him, leaving him in a state of shock and vulnerability. Recounting the
circumstances, he shared, “I had just finished an interview in London.
There is always that one person in the family who is a deliverer of bad news.
The person who does that in our family said he would not break the news to me
because there is a great chance I would not make it.”

The death of his mother
deeply impacted his relationship with his wife and newborn son. Struggling to
cope with the loss, Jim Iyke found himself in a quiet and lonely space, devoid
of the support he had relied on. Overwhelmed by grief, he experienced sleepless
nights, irritability, and a noticeable change in his demeanor.

Despite his jovial and
playful nature, Jim Iyke confessed that he lost his sense of humor, along with
his confidence and leadership qualities. He surrendered himself to his grief,
unintentionally neglecting his wife in the process. He became an obsessive
father, channeling all his love and attention towards their son while
inadvertently leaving his wife behind.

“I took all my love
and attention and invested it in my son and left her behind. I was an excellent
father and a woeful husband. They are white, they are not built like us,”
he lamented, acknowledging his mistake. As time went on, his wife began to feel
disconnected from the man she married. Recognizing the toll it was taking on
their relationship, they decided to part ways amicably.

Jim Iyke revealed that
he honestly communicated with his wife, telling her, “I am here but I am
not here. There is no presence here. I don’t know what it would take for me to
heal and bring myself back here, but if you want to wait for me, I will
appreciate it, and if you can’t, I will understand.” Regrettably, his wife
chose not to wait, leading to the dissolution of their marriage.

This heartfelt
revelation by Jim Iyke serves as a reminder of the complex nature of personal
relationships and the profound impact that grief and emotional struggles can
have on individuals. It also highlights the importance of communication,
understanding, and the need to seek healing and growth when faced with such
challenges.
